Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

What is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®)?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) personality assessment is based on 50 years of research. MBTI® is utilized within the majority of the Fortune 100 companies to identify personality types. The MBTI® is based on four psychological types identified in the work of Carl Jung. In the 1940s, the mother and daughter team Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, discovered a way to identify innate personality preferences within each of Jung’s psychological types. An example of a personality preference is the well-known tendency toward introversion or extroversion.

At Xponents we use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator tool as a way to deepen awareness of self and others as part of an individual or group coaching package. Xponents also uses MBTI® in leadership and team sessions. Knowing your personality type and the personality preferences of others, can help you understand and appreciate differences in relationships with friends, family and co-workers.

Taking the MBTI® personality assessment tool involves answering a series of questions that are designed to identify the test-takers preferred approach. The test is administered on paper or as an online assessment. The results are shared during a one-hour consult by an MBTI® certified coach.

Myers-Briggs is a registered trademark of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Trust in the United States and other countries.
